TL;DR: I'm condensing everything into a single site - this one. My AI side-hustle, my mailing list, every video I've made anywhere. I'm also getting rid of the online course platform and moving to downloadable videos only.
Making Content Easier
One of the main challenges of running a content side hustle is producing the actual content. Every time I change anything, I focus on making this process easier, and the time has come again to do just that.
In short, I am:
- Moving away from the "online course" model. It's much simpler to sell smaller, 60-90 minute videos than it is a full course which takes me 6 months to make.
- Creating more hands-on workshops. The "AI for Developers with Deadlines" workshop has done really well, and I want to do more things like that. Less theory, more actual "doing".
- My newsletter subscription is ridiculously expensive. I love Kit (my provider), but all I do is send broadcast emails. This makes a platform change obvious to me, which means...
- Moving to Ghost, once again. I used to use Ghost for this site a few years ago, but tried to keep the online course set up where you could stream videos with a sidenav and so on. Keeping that up to date wasn't fun, so I moved to Rails, and then to this site (Nuxt).
What This Means For You
If you own a course from me, I'll be moving you to a "downloadable course" setup. That means you will be able to download every video and all the assets, including a file-based web app that you can start by double-clicking and running. Or you can just watch the videos directly that are in the /videos directory.
I'm hoping to get this done before the holidays, so if you want to get a jump on things, you can head to the downloads page and have an email sent to you with the links you need. Some of the courses will be quite large given all the videos, so let me know if you have an issue as I have some workarounds.
Dust, Everywhere
I'll be rolling these things out over the next few weeks and there might be small explosions as I get things sorted. Eventually, however, there will be a TON of extra content here that you can enjoy.
I'll send a note out to everyone when things are put together again.
Cheers!
Rob
