SubSonic is over twenty years old and last built on .NET 3.5. Jon Skeet and I are upgrading it to .NET 10, live, and the procedure transfers to whatever legacy codebase is haunting your shop.
In this, our first episode, and I take our time and explore the SubSonic Codebase, trying to form a plan. We have a concept of a plan, but not a plan, exactly.
Here’s what we know:
The codebase is very, very old, written in .NET 3.5.
There are obsolete libraries everywhere.
We have a singular goal: make it build.
Everything else, is butter. We hope!
Technical note: I had some very bad luck with my audio recording, which should be resolved in the next episode. It’s still listenable, but not quite up to my standards.
