Same Discipline, Different App: A Quick Look at Codex

A complete course for developers who are serious about making AI part of how they actually work.
I know a lot of people prefer to work in ChatGPT's Codex, and they have their reasons. The good news is that 95 to 99% of what you've seen me do in Claude Code picks right up and moves over. That's what I'm after here: the underlying discipline matters more than the specific tool, so let's balance things out a little and take a look at the other side.
Codex is ChatGPT and Codex rolled into one app now (they combined them recently and confused a bunch of people). I'm on a free plan, so all I get is Luna, which is fine for most things. A paid plan gets you Astra and a little bot called Dot. The sidebar works the way you'd expect: side chats, scheduled tasks, plugins for GitHub and Notion, and you can point it at the GitHub CLI just like I've been doing with Claude Code. I still like Claude Code a little better because it shows you the context window, but the biggest difference is images. Try making images with Claude Code and they're horrible. Codex is quite good at it.
So why doesn't everyone just pick one and run with it? People have opinions about the companies and the personas behind them, Anthropic and OpenAI both, and I get it. I worked at Microsoft for a very long time, so I know every company out there has its problems. Pick the tool that lines up with who you are, and choose to do the good you want to do in the world.
